The Kore was located to the Parthenon's southwest in 1888. She is dressed in a long chiton with sleeves and, over it, a short himation which passes obliquely under her left arm while secured on the right with relief buttons. The colours, red, blue and green have oxidized through time but traces of them still survive on her garments.
In contrast to most Korai who pull their chiton aside to facilitate their step, this Kore has both of her arms bent and extends them forward. Most likely she was holding offerings in both hands, although only the tail of the bird -perhaps a pigeon- she was clasping in her left hand has survived. Her forearms were made from a separate piece of marble and then inserted into the elbow joint.
Her hairdo is the typical of the archaic Korai: her hair fall on her back in a heavy mass while four long curls frame each side of her face and spill to the front. The traces of reddish-brown colour we see today probably constitute the undercoat over which the hair’s final hue was applied. On her head the Kore wears a stephane decorated with colorful motifs, on her ears round earrings and on her left wrist a relief bracelet.
